WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2009

NOON – La Te Da’s “Queen of Swing” Birthday Brunch. Celebrate Jazz icon Norma Miler’s 90th Birthday with a scrumptious brunch (order off menu,) 1125 Duval Street.   Call (305) 296-6706 for reservations.

4-6pm – Norma Miller’s Tall Ship Birthday Sunset Sail with Admiral Finbar & the Pirates in Paradise crew aboard the Schooner WOLF. Tickets: $50, $25 for children under 12.  Meet at the WOLF (1/2 hour prior to departure) at KW’s Historic Seaport. Reservations: (305) 296-9694.

6-9pm – Norma Miller’s Birthday Reception at the Key West Art Bar.  Entertainment features the Mike Emerson Southernmost Rhythm Section, and guest appearances by Kat Epple, Michelle Murillo and dancers Lucy Carleton & Leon Williams, $5 Cover – Cash Bar.

10am-5pm – Fort Taylor Pyrate Fest, Pirate Pub and Village Thieves’ Market.  Featuring living history pirate encampments, Pirate Skirmish with His Royal Majesty’s Military Forces (1:30pm), Pyrate Tryal of Anne Bonny & Mary Read, period clothing, arts and crafts, pirate treasure, storytellers, fight circles, treasure hunts, black powder weapons demonstrations and kids’ pirate games. Entertainment includes strolling minstrels & combative stunt men. Festival Pass: $6/adults and $4/children under 12 with park admission. 11am – Noon – Historic Reenactment of the “Pyrate Tryal of Anne Bonny & Mary Read at Old City Hall,” (based on the official trial transcripts of these infamous female pirates.) Cost: $10/$5 for children under 12. Call (305) 296-9694 for reservations.

Dance to the big band sounds of the Mike Emerson Southernmost Brass Band, with special guests  Bill Cobbs, Lou Ragland, Chazz Young, Kathleen Peace, Michelle Murillo and the Lucy & Leon Swing Dancers.  Dinner tickets $50 per person (RSVP by 12/3 to 305-296-9694 or Info@NormaMillerSwings.com.)
